Artist's Description
Now we have reached Tower Bridge with my paintings. I've lost count of how many times I painted Tower Bridge. Living in Wapping and working on the River Thames, it was very iconic to me.
I painted this scene just after the Silver Jubilee in 1977. I was serving as a Thames policeman at the time Britannia came up the River Thames to Moor up above Tower Bridge and take part in Queen Elizabeth the seconds Jubilee celebrations. I thought it fitting to paint a large 48 inch by 36 inch canvas of the occasion, but regretted selling it at the time. So in 2020 I decided to paint it again, but adding the Commissioners green launch and more detail to Tower Bridge and the background. Enjoy Mac😊🎻🎨
