Artist's Description

I found an old sepia photo showing the construction of Tower Bridge in The Thames Police Museum, in Wapping, and asked the curator if I could use it to create a painting. I only had the stern of the ship in the photo. After research in the London Docklands museum, with the help of their curator, we found that a ship called the 'SS Ruahine' may have been up there during this period, so I was able to paint the whole ship from a very faded photo of her. It also shows the local boys nicknamed, The Mudlarks, playing in the dity Thames water, and a Police rowing galley with three officers nearby. A very detailed painting on a 100cm by 80 cm canvas in oil. It took months to complete, but now you can enjoy a little bit of London's history not to be missed captured in oils.
The early 1890s were a time of depressed trade, and the NZSC found itself embarrassed by many difficulties and troubles. In 1890, Mr (later Sir) Edwyn Dawes took over a a considerable number of shares in the NZSC from Sir...

MACKENZIE MOULTON ARTIST Mackenzie Moulton, born 21st June 1947 in Exeter, Devon, England. The first son of an English father and Scottish Mother and an Irish Grandfather. A result of which he has a deep Celtic origin. His talent recognised at an early age and a year before leaving school at 15, was invited to attend Exeter Art College at weekends to study Sculpture. Over the past 65 years he has concentrated on painting as opposed to sculpture and has Exhibited in London, Kent, Devon, Newcastle, Durham and Scotland in the UK and New York, El Paso, Dallas and Connecticut in the USA. and in Spain.
