'Sophocles was a steel hull sailing ship, hence the rust down the side of the hull. She sailed from the UK to Australia and various other locations. I painted this in oil on a 100 by 80 cm canvas. The person I sold it to later told me it was stolen in a burglary on his home in Wales, maybe one day it will turn up, fortunately I captured an image of the painting for you to enjoy. Painted this one in about 2010 as one I did previously and sold was stolen, so I now have this one for sale. Its on a 30 by 20 inch canvas and has a nice gold frame around it, or buy the print or printed canvas.

In 1910 the Sophocles was sold to Italian owners and was rigged to a Barque. Th ship was still afloat in 1926 under the Italian flag
